Confirm a reservation without extra personal data

Confirm only the details a venue needs: the booking name, time and party size. A reservation message can expose payment data, contact details or a legal name, so share a cropped confirmation and remember that booking together is not permission to publicise anyone’s identity.

Ask for the minimum

A first name or booking reference may be enough to find the table. Ask what the venue requires rather than collecting a full email thread, phone number or payment receipt. If the reservation is under your name, say what the other person should tell staff.

Share a safe confirmation

Crop a screenshot so only the venue, date, time and relevant booking name remain. Check that notifications, card details and contact information are outside the image. Text the essentials if a screenshot would reveal more than the plan needs.

Keep identity private

Do not post the reservation, tag the person or tell friends their booking name without agreement. Someone may use a different name for privacy or safety. If the venue needs an exact detail, ask directly and keep it within the coordination conversation.

Message examples

Ask what the venue needs

The booking is under “Sam” for 19:30, but I’m not sure whether they need a surname. What name would you like me to give at the door?

It requests the precise operational detail without asking for unrelated personal information.

Share a cropped confirmation

Here’s the cropped booking: Thursday, 19:30, two people at Harbour Café. I removed the payment and contact details; tell me if the name needs changing.

It shares enough to coordinate while making the redaction visible and reversible before the visit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I forward the whole booking email for convenience?

Only if the other person has agreed and the email contains no unnecessary private data. Usually a short text or cropped image is enough. Convenience does not outweigh the person’s control over payment and identity details.

What if the reservation name is not their real name?

Use the name the booking requires and do not ask for a personal explanation. A booking name is a coordination detail, not an invitation to investigate or share the person’s identity.
