How the 24 hours actually work
Bumble was designed around one rule that changes everything: in matches between a man and a woman, she makes the first move. From the moment the match happens, the woman has 24 hours to send the first message; if she doesn’t, the match expires. And once she writes, a second timer kicks in: the other person has 24 hours to reply to that first message. In same-gender matches, either person can open within the same window.

If he doesn’t, the match expires. Careful with fast conclusions though: taking hours isn’t always disinterest. Some people open Bumble once a day, missed the notification, or are buried in exams. If you have to open and only hours remain

Don’t come in apologizing across three paragraphs or try to compensate for the delay with a mile-long message: that’s what actually reads as panic. Respond to the content of their message with normal energy and, if you want, acknowledge the delay in one line with humor. What matters is that your reply continues the conversation, not that it restarts it.
