A practical playbook
How to Ask Politely Before Sharing a Date Photo
Name the image and audience before sharing a photo, ask for clear consent, and make it easy to decline without pressure or surprise posting.
A photo can feel private even when it was taken in public. Before sharing, say who appears, where you would post it, and who could see the account. Ask for a clear yes and leave room for no. Permission for one image or audience does not automatically cover another post.
Name the image and audience
Avoid a vague question such as can I post this? Say which photo you mean, where it would appear, and whether the account is public or limited.
Are you happy for me to put this beach photo on my public profile? You are in the background, so I wanted to ask first.
Make refusal easy
Ask in a way that does not make no sound rude. Do not post first and offer to delete later; check with each identifiable person when possible.
It is completely fine if you would rather I use a different photo.
Change the plan when needed
If they decline, do not publish an identifiable version without agreement. Removing a tag, limiting the audience, or cropping is not permission. Ask again for a crop, new audience, or later post.
If you posted before asking, delete it promptly and apologise without claiming they should have been comfortable.

It names the image and audience before the other person decides.
Make no easy

It removes pressure and makes clear the plan can change without social punishment.
Questions
Does one photo permission cover a whole set?
No. Consent covers the image and audience you described. Ask again for a crop, different audience, or later post, and never publish an identifiable version without agreement.
What if I posted before asking?
Remove the post, acknowledge that you should have asked, and let the other person decide whether any later version may be shared.
